Attention fellow plant lovers:
At this time, our plants are all tucked in for a long winter's nap. You're welcome to browse but please check back at the beginning of April for 2026 availability. Thanks for visiting!

At Plucky Plants, we believe that life is better with plants... and pollinators... and birds... and other critters. So, we want to help you create diverse and abundant spaces to nourish your body and soul... while also nourishing the world around you.
We're guided by the permaculture ethics:
EARTH CARE
PEOPLE CARE

Hey! Did you know I'm medicinal?
Well, I'm growing in a reused pot!
I'm destined for a community pollinator garden...

EARTH CARE
In all we do, we try to minimize our environmental impacts and improve the ecosystem around us. Our actions include:
Growing Perennials- choosing to sell adaptable native plants or other perennials that benefit the surrounding ecosystem
Sustainable Harvesting- harvesting seeds, cuttings and roots for propagation from healthy and diverse plant communities
Reducing Waste- salvaging and using landfill-bound materials, including pots, labels and leaves
Growing Without Chemicals- never using chemical fertilizers or pesticides

PEOPLE CARE
Most of the plants we choose to grow are edible, medicinal or can be used as cut flowers. This allows people to care for their bodies and souls.

FAIR SHARE
We don't take more than we need and we give to our community- both human and non-human. This includes:
Maintaining Healthy Soil- adding organic matter (manure, compost, leaves, etc.) regularly to nourish our plants
Never Over-Harvest- seeds, cuttings or roots
Creating Wildlife Habitat- on our land and in the community
Pricing Fairly- our priority is connecting people with plants
Giving Away Free Seeds- at local events, to seed libraries, etc.
Donating Plants/ Giving Discounts to Community Initiatives
HI, I'M LAURA...
... the owner and proud plant-baby "mama" of Plucky Plants.
Admittedly, I'm a bit of a plant nerd. Over the years, I've apprenticed on organic farms and with herbalists; earned certificates in Permaculture Design, Sustainable Urban Agriculture and Food Forest Design; wrote plant profiles for the Permaculture Design Magazine; and learned that sunchoke pancakes are delicious.
One of my most satisfying (and challenging!) undertakings, though, is the ongoing process of transforming my own 3/4 acre yard into gardens teeming with food, medicine and life.
But, it's been tough to find all the amazing edible, medicinal and native plants I've read so much about in permaculture and native gardening books. So, in 2024, I took the plunge and began propagating and selling the ones I'd managed to acquire... so that you can enjoy them too!

Whether it's a few native plants in a planter, a small medicinal herb garden or an entire edible landscape, please join us on this funstastic (yes, it's fun and fantastic) adventure in growing perennial abundance!
